Any export requires approval from the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. In practice, commercial export permits are not issued for scientifically important specimens.
Chinese fossils are frequently mislabeled as coming from Mongolia, Korea, or "private collections" to evade scrutiny. Buyers should demand verifiable government export paperwork — not a COA from a dealer.
