These terms govern use of Jurassic Depot. They are marketplace rules, not legal, tax, appraisal, shipping, or import/export advice. If you need counsel on a specimen or document, hire a qualified professional.

Jurassic Depot operates an online marketplace for fossils and related natural-history material. Bidding, checkout, escrow, payouts, messaging, live shopping, and similar tools work only when those workflows are turned on for a listing or account.
Except where a Jurassic Depot program expressly states otherwise, we provide the venue and related tools. We are not the seller of specimens listed by third-party sellers, we are not a traditional auction house taking ownership of lots, and we are not a party to the purchase contract between buyer and seller.
Buying and selling fossils online involves real risk: misidentification, undisclosed restoration, illegal origin, stolen material, dishonest counterparties, shipping damage, customs refusal, and paperwork that looks official but is not.
You agree not to treat Jurassic Depot as responsible for other users’ content, listings, messages, reviews, storefronts, live streams, documents, photos, videos, or conduct — including a seller’s or buyer’s failure to complete a deal, return a specimen, or tell the truth.
Unless a specific Jurassic Depot program expressly says otherwise in writing for that transaction, we do not guarantee and do not warrant:
Falsified provenance paperwork is a known problem in the fossil trade. Sellers may upload or describe documents that are forged, digitally edited, recycled from other specimens, issued without authority, incomplete, outdated, or otherwise misleading.
Jurassic Depot may review uploads for completeness, consistency, and policy fit. That review is a risk-reduction process — not a laboratory authentication, not a legal clearance, and not a warranty that any document is genuine.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Jurassic Depot has no liability for losses, costs, seizure, forfeiture, tax issues, criminal exposure, civil claims, or diminished value arising from forged, altered, fabricated, recycled, or fraudulent documents, or from any reliance you place on documents supplied by a seller or third party.
Sellers remain solely responsible for the truth of documents they submit. Buyers remain responsible for independent verification before they rely on those documents. If you discover suspected document fraud, report it through platform tools or hello@jurassicdepot.com so we can investigate and, where appropriate, remove listings or restrict accounts.
Badges such as Fully verified, Partially verified, Needs docs, Buyer beware, Expert verified, or similar labels describe the state of review inputs available to Jurassic Depot at a point in time. They are decision aids, not insurance policies and not certificates of title, authenticity, or lawful export.
A higher badge does not mean Jurassic Depot has proven every claim, physically examined every specimen, or certified every PDF. A lower badge does not automatically mean a specimen is fake — it means documentation or review is weaker or incomplete.
Users must provide truthful information, keep accounts secure, follow applicable laws (including land, export, import, cultural-property, tax, and payment rules), and use the platform in good faith.
Sellers must disclose restoration, composites, casts, replicas, uncertainty, source, ownership history, and restrictions honestly, and must not list material they cannot lawfully sell. Listing access does not guarantee publication.
Buyers must read listings carefully, ask questions, obtain independent advice when stakes are high, and not treat review tools, chat answers, or marketing copy as final authentication or legal advice.
Listings or claims that create unresolved provenance, cultural-property, ownership, safety, or platform risk may be removed or rejected. Users may not use Jurassic Depot to evade fees, push deals off-platform to hide records, manipulate bids, launder provenance, or circulate counterfeit or unlawfully obtained material. See the Prohibited Items Policy and Auction Rules.
When bidding is live, bids are serious offers subject to Auction Rules, listing terms, review holds, and payment clearance. Fees, holds, shipping, taxes, and processor charges apply only when the relevant workflow is active and disclosed. Payouts may be delayed or paused during review or dispute.
Any buyer-protection, inspection-window, escrow, or dispute program applies only as written for that program and only when it is active for the purchase. Those programs do not convert Jurassic Depot into a guarantor of authenticity or document genuineness unless the program text expressly says so.
Where a program refunds or remediates a covered problem, that remedy is your exclusive platform remedy for that covered issue, to the extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Jurassic Depot and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits; lost data; lost goodwill; business interruption; or losses tied to specimen authenticity, legality, scientific identity, grade, value, resale, shipping, customs, or documentation — whether based in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise — arising from your use of the site or from dealings with other users.
If, despite the above, Jurassic Depot is held liable to you for any claim arising out of the services, our total liability is limited to the greater of (a) the Jurassic Depot marketplace fees you paid to us for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). This cap does not expand any buyer-protection payout that may separately apply under an active program.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for our own fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where such a limit is forbidden). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or damage exclusions; in those places, our limits apply only as far as the law allows.
Online identity checks are imperfect. Even when we use verification tools, we do not promise that any user’s identity, location, expertise, or history is accurate. You rely on user-supplied information at your own risk.
We may remove content, request documents, pause payouts, limit accounts, or take other reasonable action to protect users and the platform. Failure to act on one breach is not a waiver of later action.
These terms may change as the marketplace evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the current version. The version posted on this page controls.
