Morocco fossil rules: verification in progress
Current status: Jurassic Depot has not yet verified a sufficiently clear, current primary-government source that supports a broad conclusion about commercial fossil collection and export from Morocco. This page is therefore excluded from search indexing and does not claim that a specimen is legal or illegal.
What a buyer should request
- Exact locality, collector, and collection date.
- The legal basis for collection from that land or concession.
- Export declaration, customs records, and shipment history.
- Item-level chain of custody and restoration disclosure.
- Independent examination for composites or extensive restoration when value justifies it.
What these records can and cannot prove
A seller certificate can document a representation, but it is not a government permit and does not independently prove origin or authenticity. UV imaging can reveal some materials and repair patterns, but it cannot by itself establish legality, species, or complete authenticity.
