Summary
Fossils with no disclosed country of origin are automatically blocked for high-value, vertebrate, dinosaur, and museum-grade material. Low-risk common specimens may be allowed after admin review.
Restricted countries
The Four-Block Rule — dinosaur fossils from these countries cannot be legally sold without government authorization. Each has national laws classifying fossils as cultural property.

The Law — What It Actually Says
Fossils with unknown origin present the highest legal risk. Without documented origin, a fossil cannot be verified as legally collected, exported, or owned. May be: illegally collected, illegally exported, stolen, or fabricated. Sellers must prove provenance. Jurassic Depot blocks unknown-origin listings.
Red Flags for Buyers
'Unknown origin' or 'Provenance lost'
If the seller doesn't know, neither do you — and neither does the law.
'Private collection' with no paperwork
Real collections have documentation. A story is not provenance.
Buyer Advisory
Listings without disclosed country of origin are blocked for vertebrate, dinosaur, and high-value material.
Seller Advisory
All sellers must disclose country of origin. Unknown origin listings are subject to automatic blocking.
What to Demand from Sellers
