The Authenticity Score (0–100) measures how well a listing supports that the fossil is genuine, correctly identified, and honestly described. It rewards verifiable evidence — expert review, UV imaging, lab analysis — and honest disclosure of restoration and composite work. It never claims a fossil is "proven real"; it scores the strength of the evidence.
Disclosed restoration does not lower the Authenticity Score for honesty — it lowers value, which is reflected separately. What destroys the score (and triggers review) is restoration discovered later that was not disclosed. The platform rewards sellers who openly state restoration %, composite %, and replica/reconstruction %.
Jurassic Depot scores every listing for provenance, authenticity, and documentation. The best way to avoid fakes is to demand proof — and to know what to ask for.
